Here's Hollywood
Season 1, Episode 230
25 August 1961
Rod Taylor appeared on this half-hour celebrity interview
program.
Italian actress Rossana Podestà was the other guest during this
episode. "Here's Hollywood" aired on weekday afternoons on NBC at
4:30 p.m. U.S. Eastern Time from Sept. 26, 1960, to Dec. 28, 1962.
A reader of this site recalls seeing Rod's installment. Rod was
interviewed by his swimming pool by Helen O'Connell. "She was a
little bit kittenish about how masculine and handsome he was," the
viewer recalled." I remember how self-effacing he tried to be.
Almost every answer began with, 'Oh, I don't know...' "
According to The Classic TV Archive,
Rod discussed his reputation as a rebellious young man and tells
about the way he believes women should be treated.
Also according to The Classic TV Archive, Dean Miller did an
interview with Italian actress
Rosanna Podesta during this installment. Podesta discussed teenage morals in Italy. Actor Stanley
Baker added his comments to Rosanna's as they were interviewed in the
heart of Old Rome. (They likely were filming "Sodom and Gomorrah" at
the time.) Esme Chandlee, who was the associate producer and
talent coordinator for the show, said it was the first program of
its kind. "We had two mobile units and went to two locations each
day -- one star in the morning and one in the afternoon," Chandlee
said.
The show usually went to the stars' houses but sometimes set up
another place to interview them. "It was the leading daytime show
for two years because no one else was doing that," she said.
